The Benefits Eligibility Snapshot is a free 15-minute call with me. It is not
a consultation. It is not a Q&A. It is a structured conversation designed to do
one thing: determine whether mentoring can move the needle for you and what
your most important next step should be.
Here is what happens on the call: I ask you four questions about your service history and current benefits status. You will leave knowing exactly whether a mentoring session makes sense for your situation and why. If a VSO or another resource is a better fit, I will tell you that too.
If you have already been through TAP, already talked to a VSO, and you still have a nagging sense that something is missing, that is exactly what a Snapshot call is built to examine. You do not have to be certain there is a gap. You just have to be willing to find out.
Why Pay When VSOs Are Free?
It's a fair question, and you deserve a straight answer.
Veterans Service Organizations like the DAV, VFW, Wounded Warrior Project, and American Legion are best known for helping veterans file VA disability claims, and they do that well. If filing or tracking a disability claim is your primary need, a VSO is a legitimate free option, and I will tell you that honestly on your free 15-minute Snapshot call. If your situation requires a detailed medical records review and formal claims filing, I will refer you directly to a VSO or qualified claims professional who specializes in that work.
Where RYZUP Consulting fills a different need is in everything surrounding that process. Understanding what benefits you actually qualify for across the full VA and military benefits landscape. Requesting and interpreting your service records. Building a detailed strategy for your application before anything gets filed. Walking through VA.gov, MilConnect, and other systems step by step until you can navigate them confidently. These are the conversations that rarely happen inside a high-volume claims process, and they are the ones that determine whether you walk away with the full picture of what your service made available to you.
I bring 20 years of military service, a PhD in Social Psychology, and hands-on experience advising the VA on its own benefits curriculum as a VA Benefits Advisor Site Lead and Senior Program Analyst. I also do not take a percentage of your disability award. Ever. The hourly fee covers the session. What you earn from your benefits is yours.
AI tools can explain the rating schedule. They cannot read your records.
They work from what you type into a box. They cannot ask a follow-up. They cannot know about the condition you never thought to mention, because you never thought to mention it. That is not me being unfair to the technology. It is the difference between pattern recognition and someone who looks at your actual history.
Here is where it costs you. A secondary condition that never made it into your file never gets rated. There is no deadline that closes on you, but the longer it sits unfiled, the more back pay you leave behind. An Intent to File protects your effective date for up to a year, and most veterans I talk to have never heard of it.
